CPD Training

Each teacher will be expected to participate in 50 hours of CPD opportunities every year for their own professional development, driven by their own needs and choice. – NEP 2020

The Salwan Education Trust has been involved in organizing Training Programmes since 1997 for its stakeholders. Teachers are provided with professional  support for updating their pedagogical skills to render optimum benefit to the students. These programmes help in imparting core values to meet the following objectives:-

Training sessions are held around the year and multiple  opportunities are provided to  the faculty and the students to participate in conferences, summits, and exchange programmes. Experts from various fields are invited and innovative pedagogies are shared to enhance the teaching learning process.

CBSE workshop on Continuous Professional Development

Salwan Public school, Mayur Vihar hosted the CBSE Continuous Professional Development workshop on Saturday, 23 November 2024. The esteemed speakers of the day were- Dr. Veena Mishra, Principal of National Victor School, IP Extension, Delhi and Ms. Laxmi Prakash, a globally accredited Cambridge and British Council educator. Workshop emphasised the significance of Competency-Based Education (CBE) in revolutionising teaching practices and enhancing student learning outcomes.

‘Commemoration of International Day against Violence and Bullying at School

The webinar emphasised the critical need for safe, violence free educational environments. Led by keynote speaker Mr. Anandrao Vishnu Patil, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, the session outlined strategies to address all forms of bullying and uphold every learner’s right to education without violence or discrimination.

National Curriculum Framework - Foundational Stage

A Capacity Building Programme on the ‘National Curriculum Framework – Foundational Stage’ was organised by CBSE on Friday, 05 October 2024, at DAV School, Dayanand Vihar. The workshop was led by Dr. Ajay Kumar Jha, Director of Education, and Endupreneur Dr. Akshita Bahuguna, with the aim of equipping teachers with innovative teaching methods aligned with the updated National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

‘Enhancing Mental Health Support in Educational Settings through Collaboration and Leadership’

On 04 October 2024, CBSE organised a virtual Conclave on ‘Enhancing Mental Health Support in Educational Settings through Collaboration and Leadership’. The session’s objective was to empower school leaders and counsellors to address students’ psychosocial needs effectively. Mental health challenges among students are increasingly recognized as critical issues that impact academic performance and overall well-being. This panel discussion sought to explore how collaborative efforts and strong leadership can enhance mental health support within educational environments.

Art Integration

On 18 September 2024, two faculty members from primary department Ms. Preeti Singla, PRT Science and Ms. Sunyana Nijhara, PRT Maths attended the CBSE capacity building workshop on Art Integration at Arwachin Bharti Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Vivek Vihar.

National Curriculum Framework – Foundational Stage

The capacity-building program for foundational educators commenced with the discussion on  ‘happiness hormones’—dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins—to set a positive and engaging tone. After introductions, Dr. Bhavana Kulshreshtha began the session by highlighting the relevance of the quote, “A teacher can never truly teach unless he is still learning himself.” She emphasised the importance of continuous learning and self-improvement for educators, stating that as learners evolve, educators must also upgrade their skills and knowledge.

Elevating Teaching – Learning Dynamics on Diksha

During the third week of June, from 17 June to 21 June 2024, CIET & NCERT conducted a webinar titled ‘Elevating Teaching – Learning Dynamics on Diksha’. This five-day program took place daily from 04:00 p.m. to 05:00 p.m., offering invaluable insights into integrating cutting-edge tools like the Collabgeo tool and Google Classroom.

‘Balvatika & Jadui Pitara’

A CBSE workshop was organised at Lovely Public School, Priyadarshini Vihar on Balvatika and Jadui Pitara. The session focused on understanding the kit components and their practical classroom implementation aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP). It provided valuable insights into how these resources support NEP guidelines.

CBSE Interaction Programme NCF

An online CBSE interaction workshop was held on Tuesday, 25 June  2024 focused on the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), outlining key principles and guidelines for educators and curriculum developers. The NCF-SE aims to serve as a comprehensive guide for practitioners in education, ensuring clarity and applicability across diverse educational contexts. The framework emphasises specificity without imposing rigidity, providing nonbinding suggestions and practical examples to aid understanding and implementation. It encourages innovation while offering a foundational starting point for educators.

As part Salwan Education Trust’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) initiative, SPS Mayur Vihar hosted a comprehensive workshop for PGTs on Monday, 27 and Tuesday, 28  May 2024. This two-day event brought together esteemed speakers to cover diverse topics including leadership, personal effectiveness, and future-ready education, enhancing the professional skills of senior teachers from Salwan Schools.

Capacity building programs for the teachers teaching ‘Information Technology’

The CBSE’s Department of Skill Education organised a training program for teachers teaching Information Technology (Sub. Code – 402) as a Skill Subject in CBSE-affiliated schools across India. The training aimed to enhance educators’ proficiency in delivering IT education effectively. In the online inauguration of the session, Sh. Vishwjeet Saha, Director of Skill and Training at CBSE, welcomed all the teachers and emphasised the importance of skill subjects in NCERF.

HELP program by Heartfulness Education Trust

The Heartfulness Workshop for teachers, spearheaded by Mr. Gyan Sareen, Director of Heartfulness, marked a significant stride in nurturing the holistic development of students in classes XI and XII at SPS Tronica. The initiative, attended by educators from all schools within the Salwan Education Trust, was a collective endeavour towards fostering emotional well-being among students. Mr. Sareen’s introduction of the program highlighted its pivotal role in cultivating essential virtues such as calmness and patience.

The workshop emphasised on empowering students to find balance in their lives, enabling them to navigate challenges with resilience and equanimity. By equipping students with these vital life skills, they are better poised to set meaningful goals and make informed decisions that align with their aspirations.

Training Programme for Skill Course ‘Horticulture (816)

On Tuesday, 15 May 2024, Smt. Sunita Madan (Principal SPS Tronica) and Smt. Jyotsna Nagpal (TGT Science, SPS Tronica) addressed the importance of horticulture in education. Horticulture, defined as the art and science of growing plants, plays a crucial role in fostering an appreciation for the environment, developing practical skills, and promoting a healthy lifestyle and sustainability.

B.ED to B.EL.ED- Bridge Course

On Thursday, May 16, 2024, a workshop titled ‘B.ED to B.EL.ED – bridge course’ was conducted. Ms. Sheetal Sethi Kapoor, the resource person, initiated the session by comparing B.ED and B.EL.ED. Beginning with a brief history of Mathematics, she introduced ELPS teaching methods.

Teachers were then organised into groups to engage in an interactive activity. Within these groups, leaders were designated, and specific topics were allocated for discussion. Notably, one group showcased a teaching strategy centered on Division, offering practical insights into effective pedagogical approaches. Throughout the workshop, there was a pronounced emphasis on infusing playfulness into the teaching of mathematics. This was exemplified by the engagement in a game of Ludo, serving as a medium to illustrate mathematical concepts in an interactive and enjoyable manner.

Continuous Professional Development for Leaders

In today’s fast-paced world, effective leadership demands more than just authority—it requires empathy, understanding, and impeccable communication skills, especially in high-stakes scenarios. The workshop aimed to equip leaders with the tools to navigate such challenges adeptly. Heartful listening entails really listening to someone with care and interest. It’s an important part of being a good leader.

Capacity Building Program for TGTs

The session opened with a welcome address by Smt. Vaishali of SPS Gurugram . Dr Atul Nischal, the keynote speaker, emphasised on the importance of assessment and evaluation in the educational process. Smt. Sunita Jhakhar, Vice Principal of SPS Gurugram welcomed him with a warm and welcoming speech. She expressed her hopes for a productive day of learning under the expert guidance of the esteemed mentors.  She also encouraged all participants to absorb the valuable knowledge and follow the guided instructions for skill development.

SAFAL Training by CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently conducted training sessions on its new initiative, SAFAL (Student’s Assessment for Analyzing Learning Levels). SAFAL is an assessment program aimed at students in classes V and VIII, designed to evaluate their learning levels comprehensively.

‘Consequences of Doping: Legal, Mental and Societal’

The webinar was hosted by the NADA India association in partnership with NCERT. The guest speaker, Dr. Rajinder K. Dhamija (Director, Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Science), spoke about the role of NADA and WADA in the field of Sports and the awareness programme run by NADA India ‘Fight Against Doping’ to give knowledge about DOPING in the field of Sports.

Workshop: Shaping Future Leaders

Ashoka University’s recent online webinar, held on April 6, 2024, served as a pivotal platform for educators, stakeholders, and students to delve into the critical topic of preparing high school students for an uncertain future. Led by esteemed figures such as Pramath Raj Sinha, the webinar facilitated profound discussions on equipping students with essential skills and mindsets necessary for success in an ever-evolving world. The session was attended by two HoDs from SPSMV, Shri Soyherdeo Das and Smt. Indu Sikri.

CBSE Workshop on ‘Science of Reading’

Reading serves as the cornerstone of education and personal growth, significantly impacting academic success and cognitive development. The National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 underscores the importance of promoting a reading culture among students to enhance their literacy skills and overall learning outcomes.

Two Days’ Online Training Programme

On Monday, 15 April 2024 and Tuesday, 16 April 2024, a two-day online training program for teachers from schools affiliated with CBSE was organised jointly by CBSE and NCERT. The purpose of this program was to facilitate a seamless transition for teachers and students from old to new textbooks in classes III and VI.

Session 2023-2024

As part of the ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) initiative, SPS Mayur Vihar organized a comprehensive workshop on Accounts and Front Office procedures on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
The Accounts workshop provided in-depth insights into fundamental accounting concepts, addressing key aspects crucial for the effective functioning of the school’s accounting department.
Simultaneously, the Front Office workshop equipped attendees with the essential skills required for the adept management of the front desk. It aimed to empower staff members to handle front office responsibilities with efficiency and professionalism, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the school.
