On Monday, 20 May 2024, Salwan Education Trust organized a Capacity Building Programme for primary teachers at Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar. The event began with a welcome address by Smt. Mukul Jha, Director Training, SET, followed by an introduction by Smt. Priyanka Barara, Principal Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar.
The first speaker, Smt. Dalbir Kaur, Literacy Strategist and Director, One up Book store, discussed the significant impact of reading on mental growth, imagination, and literacy development. She highlighted effective reading strategies, emphasizing the importance of punctuation and expressive reading for better comprehension and analysis.
In the second session, Smt. Sonia Wadhwa, Headmistress, Salwan Junior School, Naraina, conducted a workshop on “Gamification in Learning and AI Innovating Schools,” showcasing tools like Kahoot and AI-based Magic School to create engaging, personalized learning experiences. She demonstrated interactive quizzes and AI-designed worksheets, that promote creativity, collaboration, and 21st-century skills through gamified learning and peer assessment.
The third session, led by Smt. Monika Mehrotra, Founder Superbuddy Education, focused on the learning environment as the “third teacher.” The speaker discussed how well-designed physical spaces, supportive psychological climates, and diverse instructional strategies can significantly influence students’ educational experiences. She emphasized the importance of safety, inclusivity, and respect in fostering student confidence and motivation.
In the valedictory address, Smt. Nitu Katyal, Headmistress of SPS Gurugram, expressed gratitude to the participants, organizers, and resource persons for making the day eventful. She encouraged everyone to reflect on the key takeaways and apply the learnings in their classes to make learning more engaging.
Overall, the programme equipped teachers with valuable insights and practical tools to enhance their teaching methods and create a dynamic, supportive learning environment for students.
