PREPARATION OF DIFFERENT PIGMENTS AND POSTER PAINTS

Class XI students took part in an engaging, hands-on activity where they created four distinct pigments and paints: Chrome Yellow, Prussian Blue, Swan White, and Malachite Green, using salts like Potassium Chromate, Iron Chloride, Barium Chloride, and Copper Carbonate. Pigments, which impart color by selectively absorbing certain wavelengths of light and reflecting others, are typically insoluble in water and categorized based on their chemical composition or source. These pigments have widespread applications in various industries, including paints, inks, plastics, fabrics, cosmetics, and even food products. Most pigments are prepared as dry colorants, ground into fine powders, making them easy to use in manufacturing.
