Leveraging a Legacy...

The Salwan Education Trust (SET), founded in 1941 in Peshawar by the late Pandit Girdhari Lal Salwan, stands as a beacon of excellence in education. A true patriot and visionary, he dedicated his life to nation-building and believed that education should be accessible to all, regardless of background. His philosophy was rooted in justice, impartiality, and inclusivity—he believed that no child should feel inferior due to their financial or social standing. “A son of a peon should be in no way inferior to my own son,” he proclaimed, reinforcing his commitment to providing quality education for all, whether they could afford it or not.

His vision materialised with the establishment of Salwan Sanatan Dharam High Schools in 1942, followed by Salwan Boys School (1949), Salwan Girls School (1952), and Salwan Public School (1953) in New Delhi. A man ahead of his time, Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan pioneered the idea of resource-sharing between public and underprivileged schools, ensuring maximum utilisation of facilities and fostering an inclusive learning environment. This model remains a defining feature of the Salwan Schools.

Over the last 80 years, the Trust has set unparalleled benchmarks in education, nurturing young minds with a blend of academic excellence, values, and holistic development. Today, 08 schools are being run successfully under the aegis of Salwan Education Trust, carrying forward his legacy with an unwavering commitment to quality education, social responsibility, and nation-building. His ideals continue to inspire, shaping future generations with integrity, confidence, and a passion for learning.
