Rajya Shikshak Puraskar(State Teacher's Award) by the Delhi Government

It is a matter of immense pride that Smt. Pooja Dhingra has been honoured with the prestigious Rajya Shikshak Puraskar(State Teacher’s Award) by the Delhi Government for her exceptional contribution to education. The award ceremony took place at Thyagaraj Stadium on 05 September 2024, recognizing 118 outstanding teachers.

Proud moment! Congratulations to Smt. Roma Matharoo for receiving the prestigious IIHM Teachers Award on 07 September 2024. Presented by the International Institute of Hotel Management, this award recognises educators who excel in shaping the future through their dedication and innovation in teaching.

Columban Open Quiz

St Columba’s School hosted the Columban Open Quiz on July 26, 2024, drawing 102 teams from various schools across the Delhi NCR region. This significant event, conducted by the esteemed Quiz Master Major Chandrakant Nair, offered a valuable platform for students to test their knowledge and broaden their horizons. The quiz challenged participants with diverse questions, encouraging critical thinking and a deeper awareness of the world around them. Students displayed enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the event. At the conclusion of the quiz, all participating students received certificates of participation, acknowledging their efforts and commitment to learning.

SET FELICITATION CEREMONY

 The Felicitation Ceremony, held on Saturday, 13 July, 2024, at IHC, Lodi Road and organised by Salwan Education Trust, was a prestigious event celebrating outstanding achievers across all Salwan school branches in academics and sports for the session 2023-2024. Esteemed alumni and teachers associated with the institution were also honoured. From Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, the alumni felicitated were Dr. Nitish Kumar, from batch 2011, a beacon of excellence in medicine, working as a Senior Resident in Anaesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at UCMS, and Dr. Shivanya Singh, from the batch 2013, for her expertise in Onco-Anaesthesiology, currently working with AIIMS, Bhopal. Academic achievers Aditi Panwar, Jahnavi Grover, Snigdha Goel, Saiyetti Dutta, Sudhit Chand Rajwar, and Arunima Pratap Singh from Class XII, alongside Priyanka and Aishwarya S Rathore from Class X, were recognised for their stellar performances. Sports achievers included Vijul Ahuja, Pihu Kaushik, Pranavi Rawat, and Vanshika Bhaati, all achieving commendable feats in various competitions. Smt. Bhaskar Valli, Head of the Science Department, received accolades for her leadership and environmental initiatives, underscoring the school’s commitment to holistic education and sustainability.

Learning Tree Award in category of Cultural Exchange and Community Engagement

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar has been honoured with an award from Learning Tree in the category of Cultural Exchange and Community Engagement. This recognition stems from our successful Rural Exposure Camp – Manthan Kotri, held in Kishangarh, Rajasthan in 2023. The primary goal of this camp was to provide our students with firsthand experience of rural life in India. Through this initiative, we aimed to nurture empathy, foster cultural appreciation, and cultivate stronger interpersonal relationships among our students. Additionally, the camp provided invaluable opportunities for teamwork and equipped participants with skills in system thinking, encouraging critical thinking, and holistic problem-solving.

AI-based Solutions to Sustainability Challenges

Shivyaansh Singh of class 9 B successfully completed the Sustainability Club Virtual Internship by 1M1B and IBM, presenting innovative AI-based solutions to sustainability challenges. Through immersive sessions, collaborative efforts, and a compelling pitch presentation, he demonstrated dedication to driving positive change and advancing sustainable technology.

Science & Innovation Fest 2024

The Science & Innovation Fest, hosted at SPS, Tronica on 09 April 2024, served as an enriching platform for students to explore scientific concepts, foster innovation, and showcase their talents. With active participation from our school, the event aimed to ignite scientific curiosity and promote engineering prowess among young minds.

The fest featured a diverse range of activities, including hands-on experiments, research project presentations, and engaging displays. Notably, the “Wellness Quiz” was organized to promote healthy lifestyle habits among participants.

Sixteen students from classes V to X exhibited their innovative projects, highlighting their creativity and scientific acumen.  SPS, MV team secured the second position in the AI Robocraft Challenge, showcasing their exceptional skills in robotics and artificial intelligence.

Moreover, our students set up stalls showcasing school-produced items and science activities, further enriching the fest with their contributions.

Overall, the Science & Innovation Fest proved to be a resounding success, providing students with valuable opportunities for learning, collaboration, and skill development.

Achievement in Future Tech Olympiad 2.0

The Future Tech Olympiad 2.0, organized by CBSE with support from IBM, aimed to deepen students’ comprehension of modern technologies. Participants showcased innovative solutions and collaboration, engaging in cutting-edge technology presentations to foster creativity and critical thinking. Aarav Dhingra, Owais, and Vedant Vaid from Class VII clinched Gold, while Reyansh Bhardwaj earned Silver and Anubhav Shukla secured Bronze. Nirvani Sharma of Class IX also attained Gold, demonstrating excellence in problem-solving and inspiring peers. These achievements underscored the event’s goal of enhancing students’ understanding of modern technology and their potential for a bright future in the field.

IIT KAIZEN festival

The “Ingenious Geeks 3.0” science competition, held as part of Kaizen 2024 at IIT Delhi’s campus on 15 March 2024, witnessed active participation from our school. Three students from Class IX showcased their innovative project named “Jalnayak,” offering a solution to ocean acidification and promoting marine life conservation. Their model promises to transform oceanic ecosystems into thriving habitats for marine organism SPS, MV team excelled in the competition, securing the first position and earning a cash prize of Rs. 5000. This achievement reflects our students’ dedication, creativity, and commitment to addressing critical environmental challenges.

Additionally, a team of three students from Class VIII participated in the “Social Sawaal Quiz” and received participation certificates for their commendable efforts. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding performance and contributions to promoting scientific innovation and social awareness.

Delhi Hackathon

The Delhi Hackathon, organized by the Directorate of Education in collaboration with IIT Delhi, IIIFC, and Dr B R Ambedkar Schools of Specialised Excellence, aimed to foster coding talents and facilitate collaboration among young minds.

The event comprised three rounds: Screening, Hackathon, and Grand Finale. During the Screening Round, participants tackled competitive programming challenges, involving well-defined computational problems to be solved within specified time limits. These problems spanned algorithmic or mathematical domains, necessitating efficient computer programming solutions.

Notably, the Junior Team (AXON-J1008) from SPS, Mayur Vihar, consisting of Mohd Saad, Shivansh Upadhyay, and Pradyun Jha, distinguished themselves as top 16 finalists. Their innovative contributions garnered recognition, leading the school to receive a Certificate of Recognition and a Trophy, celebrating their exceptional achievement in this prestigious event.

INTACH Filmit Delhi Festival

Filmit is a multicultural project funded by the Helen Hamlyn Trust (UK). The project aims to foster cultural understanding, care, and concern among school children through the exciting experience of making films. The INTACH Filmit Delhi Festival was held on 1st February 2024 at the India International Centre in Delhi. Over 40 schools from the National Capital Region participated in the project.

Students from Salwan Public School, MV, won a prize in the following category:

Best Narration Award for the movie – ‘Nauchandi’.

Filmit has proven to be an exciting and novel way to ignite an interest in heritage among the youth. It utilizes a medium that today’s youth feel motivated by, namely, filmmaking, to explore their own culture.

 

On The Spot Painting Competition by SNEH International School.

Vivaan Sharma of class IV-C has secured Second Position in the annual ‘On the Spot Painting Competition, conducted by SNEH International School, Delhi.

Competitions for Students with Visual Impairment

After a successful first edition of the Saksham National Computer Speed and Accuracy Competition in 2022 , SAKSHAM Trust conducted the second edition of the same with more passion and participation. As earlier, it was a computer typing competition in Hindi and English on laptops for visually impaired students in two different categories; junior (5 to 8) and senior category (9 to 12). 

6 visually impaired students participated in this competition with their readers. Pari Kumari a student of class VIII-C won second position in English Junior typing. She received a smartphone and a smart keyboard.

 

Readers Revelry -Literary Extravaganza

With an aim to foster a genuine enthusiasm for reading and academic exploration among students, Readers Revelry a Literary Extravaganza 2023, was hosted by Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar . The event featured participation from numerous schools, showcasing their literary talents, creativity, and passion for literature. The program included a wide range of activities, presentations, and performances, all geared toward encouraging a love for reading and academic exploration.

The event featured a diverse range of literary genres, including poetry, storytelling, drama, and debate, which provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity. Students from participating schools presented captivating performances, leaving the audience in awe. These performances not only entertained but also conveyed meaningful messages, fostering a deeper appreciation for literature.

The event succeeded in fostering academic curiosity among the attendees. Students were exposed to a variety of literary works, stimulating their intellectual growth and inspiring them to delve deeper into their studies.

Outstanding performances were recognized with awards and certificates. A team of three students from SPSMV participated in the event. They depicted the curse scene from the story of Maleficent a fantasy fiction. They brought accolades by grabbing the third position among 19 schools. This recognition not only motivated the students but also acknowledged their hard work and dedication.

The Literary Extravaganza 2023 at Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, was a resounding success. It achieved its primary goal of nurturing a genuine enthusiasm for reading and academic exploration among attendees. The event not only promoted literary talents but also encouraged the holistic development of students.

Kalantar Art Festival

Nirvani Sharma of class IX-A has secured Second Position in Kalantar National level Art Competition. The final round of Kalantar Art Festival was held online on the topic मेरे लिए जो ईश्वर है

SHINY STAMP Event of the Tech

Master Vivaan Sharma of class IV has secured First Position in SHINY STAMP event of the Tech Fest 3.0 held at G.D. Goenka Public School, East Delhi. It was an online Event. The Topic of the event was ‘Adverse Effects of Mobile & Screen’.

HackXtreme Hackathon, IIT Delhi

This is to bring to your esteemed attention about the remarkable achievement of one of our students, Navya Agarwal, from Computer Science Class XI-A. Navya participated in the prestigious HackXtreme hackathon, which was conducted as part of Rendezvous 2023 in collaboration with Logitech and DevClub at IIT Delhi.

This challenging competition consisted of two rounds. In the initial stage, the teams were required to submit a problem statement by presenting their innovative project idea. They proposed a very unique idea of analysing coders through their development tool – “Code Watch”. I am thrilled to share that Navya’s team’s idea not only got selected in round 1 but also went on to secure the 3rd prize in the grand finale round, surpassing 74 college-level groups.

 

Desh Aur Hum: Eternal Graffiti

 Nirvani Sharma of class IX-A has secured First Position in ‘Desh Aur Hum 2.0, a set of competitions based on the theme of ‘Taxation and Governance’, organised by National Academy of Direct Taxes, Regional Campus, Delhi. Nirvani was the winner in the category named ‘Eternal Graffiti- Billboard Designing’.

IIHM Teacher’s Day Awards

On the esteemed occasion of Teacher’s Day, the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) in association with the International Hospitality Council (IHC) London, New Delhi conferred the distinguished title of “Teacher Par Excellence” upon two exemplary educators – Capt. Richa Sharma Katyal, the esteemed School Principal, and Mrs. Neelima Goyal, a dedicated TGT in Computer Science of Salwan Public School Mayur Vihar. The ceremony, graced by the presence of IIHM dignitaries, was a momentous celebration of their outstanding contributions to the field of education.

The Teachers Day Awards 2023 ceremony was organized at the IIHM Campus Badarpur, New Delhi on to commemorate and celebrate the work of the nation’s Teachers and Educationists, their service to the nation and those who make sure that no matter what ‘Education Never Stops’.  About 100 schools were invited to the ceremony with Principals and nominated teachers from their respective schools.

Capt. Richa Sharma Katyal, with her visionary leadership and tireless commitment to holistic education, has steered the school towards excellence. Her ability to inspire both staff and students alike has been instrumental in creating a thriving academic environment.

Mrs. Neelima Goyal, TGT Computer Science, was recognized for her innovative teaching methods and her role in nurturing a generation of tech-savvy students. Her passion for the subject and dedication to student growth have made her an invaluable asset to the institution.

The “Teacher Par Excellence” awards are a tribute to the exceptional teaching expertise of Capt. Richa Sharma Katyal and Mrs. Neelima Goyal. Their influence extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the future leaders of tomorrow.

Astro Artisty

Nirvani Sharma of class IX-A has secured First Position in ‘the drawing competition named ‘Astro Artisty’, conducted by Astroport India. The theme of the event was ‘Exploring the Realms of Astronomy, Space and Science.

5th Edition of India STEM Summit & Awards '23

The students of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, have achieved significant recognition in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The school was honored at the National level during the 5th Edition of India STEM Summit & Awards ’23 and India STEM Education Exhibition ’23. Our school’s team actively participated in the exhibition, held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre.

The summit was thoughtfully designed to break down barriers, expand the knowledge of attendees, and inspire young talents. In this prestigious event, which featured the participation of 20 institutions from all over India, including schools and colleges, our school was recognized for its outstanding contributions. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, with Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, serving as the chief guest. Notable speakers included Shri Sanjay Kumar (Secretary, Ministry of Education, Government of India), Shri VK Saraswat (Member – Niti Aayog, Government of India), Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar (Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC)), Shri T G Sitharam (Chairman, AICTE – Government of India), Shri Arun Kumar Gupta IRS (Director, Khelo India, SAI, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India), Dr. Vinay Thakur (Managing Director, National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI), MeitY, Government of India), Smt. Dr. Ekta Kapoor (Head, Frontier and Futuristic Technologies (FFT) Division, Dept. of Science & Technology), and Shri Tarun Ramesh Agarwal, CEO of Educobot.

Our students also had the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from the accomplished women scientists of the ISRO Chandrayaan-3 team, including Ms. Shivani K L, Smt. Kalpana Arvind, Smt. Roopa MV, and Dr. Ritu Karidhal. The event was broadcasted live on DD National. This recognition is a source of immense pride for our institution and represents a valuable learning experience for our students.

Appovation Event

Master Himang Jarola (X A) and Aneesh Shukla (X B) have secured special prizes in the APPOVATION event of the Abhivyakti and Inter School Event held at Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina Vihar. It was an offline Event. Participants has to create an Application which provided a solution to Environmental Concerns of Futuristic India.

Hindustani Bhasha Academy at Talkatora Stadium

A group of 29 students of class X was felicitated by the ‘ Hindustani Bhasha Academy’ at Talkatora Stadium.The event took place for distributing prizes to students for scoring 90% and above marks in the Hindi language in class X CBSE examination for the session 2022-2023. Two of the teachers Ms Meenakshi Arora & Ms Shashi Kharbanda of Hindi department were also felicitated there for their excellent efforts to bring out such results . 

Honourable former president Shri Ramnath Kovind ji graced the occasion with his presence and addressed the gathering with his valuable words and briefed students about the importance of Indian languages such as Hindi , Sanskrit etc. 

This mega event included the celebration of ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Diwas’. It was a motivating & enriching experience for students & teachers as well.

 

Interschool Quiz Competition

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) successfully organized an interschool quiz competition on the theme of environment and sustainability at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event aimed to foster awareness and knowledge among students regarding crucial environmental issues.

A total of 36 teams from various schools from Delhi NCR enthusiastically participated in the quiz competition, showcasing their dedication to understanding and addressing environmental challenges. The teams brought diverse perspectives and ideas to the platform, creating a dynamic and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. 

Shivika Pratap Singh and Shaurya Sharma, representing the school from grade VIII, emerged victorious in the quiz competition. Their exemplary knowledge, quick thinking, and teamwork not only brought glory to the school but also demonstrated the depth of understanding the students possess on matters of environmental significance.

Indian Tourism and Heritage Quiz organized by ZEE Mind

The wonderful news that one of our outstanding students, Pulkit Anand from Class 7C at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, has excelled in the Indian Tourism and Heritage Quiz conducted by ZEE Mind Wars in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. 

Pulkit Anand’s remarkable performance has earned him a well-deserved prize and certificate in this prestigious competition. His dedication, knowledge, and enthusiasm for learning have truly set him apart, showcasing the exceptional academic talent within our school community.

The prize distribution ceremony for winners took place at the lawns of the Red Fort Gyan Path. This event will be held during the Bharat Parv Event and will be graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Manisha Saxena, Director General of Tourism. 

We extend our warm congratulations to Pulkit Anand for this achievement, and we are proud to see our students shine on such a prominent platform. This success reflects not only Pulkit’s dedication but also the high academic standards and commitment to excellence upheld by Salwan Public School.

 

Co- Curricular Achievements

The Athletics Zonal Competition, held from September 09 to 13, 2024, at the Sports Complex in East Vinod Nagar, showcased the exceptional talent and dedication of our athletes. A total of 20 students from Salwan School participated, and their performances were truly commendable:

Farha Zafar (ClassXII-D) displayed outstanding skill in long-distance races, clinching the 1st position in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m events. 

Adhrita Ghosh (Class VII-C) excelled in sprinting, securing 2nd positionin the 100m and 3rd position in the 200m races.

The 4x100m Relay Team, featuring Adhrita Ghosh, Ishika Singh (Class VII-A), Hitika Goel (Class VII-B), and Anvi Singh (Class VI-C), showcased remarkable teamwork and finished in 2nd position

Arjun Dixit (Class X-C) also delivered impressive results in sprint events, achieving 2nd position in the 100m and 3rd position in the 200m races.

Basketball (Zonal)

We are proud to inform you that our Sub Junior Boys’ basketball team secured 2nd position in the Zonal Basketball Championship which was held at Mothers Global School, Preet Vihar, Delhi. Total 12 school teams were participated in the said championship. We won our semifinal match against Somerville Public School with a huge margin of 30/8 and lost final match against East Point school with one point difference as the final score was 18/17. 

Volleyball Senior boys (U-19) (Zonal competition)

Salwan School Volleyball (U-19 category) boys’ team secured 1st position in Zonal Inter School competition which was held at East Point School Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi on 22 & 23 August 2024. Total 33 teams were participated in the above said competition. Veer Chaudhary student of class XI B bagged the responsibility of captainship of Volleyball (U-19) senior boys team.

Volleyball Girls (U-17) (Zonal competition)

Salwan School Volleyball (U-17 category) Junior girls’ team secured 3rd position in Zonal Inter School competition which was held at Bal Bhawan School Mayur Vihar Phase 2, Delhi on 16 & 17 August 2024. Total 16 teams were participated in the above said competition. Angel Janjua student of class X A bagged the responsibility of captainship of Volleyball (U-17) Junior Girls team.

Volleyball Sub-Junior girls (U-14) (Zonal competition)

Salwan School Volleyball (U-14 category) girls’ team secured 1st position in Zonal Inter School competition which was held at Bal Bhawan School Mayur Vihar Phase 2, Delhi on 20 & 21 August Total 12 teams were participated in above said competition. Unnati Sati student of class 8 C bagged the responsibility of captainship of Volleyball team.

 

Basketball (Zonal)

We are proud to inform you that our Senior Boys’ basketball team secured 3rd position in the Zonal Basketball Championship which was held at Mothers Global School, Preet Vihar, Delhi. Total 16 school teams were participated in the said championship. We won our third position match against National Victor Public School with 26/ 10.

Badminton (Zonal)

We are proud to inform you that our Junior girls team secured 2nd position in the Zonal Badminton Championship which was held at Vidya Bal Bhavan School, Mayur Vihar, Delhi. Total 16 school teams were participated in the said championship. We lost our final match against ASN Public School.

Zonal Light Music Vocal Competition

On Saturday, 24 August 2024, SKV, West Vinod Nagar, hosted the Zonal Light Music Vocal Competition. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for students to express their musical talents through various vocal forms. Representing our school, Parnika Chandra of Class- XI E participated in the competition and ranked 1st position. The rendition was soulful and showcased the participant’s deep connection with the genre.

Table Tennis Boys (Inter School Competition)

Salwan School Volleyball (U-14 category) boys team secured 1st position in 4th Dr. Bhai Mahavir Inter School sports championship which was held at Bhai Parmanand Vidya Mandir School Surya Niketan Delhi on 22 & 23rd of December. Team received ₹5100 cash prize also Daksh Kumar of class 9th A bagged the title of best player of the tournament in Table Tennis.

We are proud to inform you that our Junior Boys’ Volleyball team secured 1st position in the Zonal Volleyball Championship which took place on at East Point School, Vasundhra Enclave Delhi.

Total 31school teams participated in the zonal championship. It was a tough fight as each school team was performing exceptionally well. Tournament was knock out in nature. Salwan volleyball boys maintained their winning streak from the start of the tournament till the end. In finale we faced Bal Bhavan Public school Mayur Vihar, Ph-2. We took the lead by winning the first set by  25-18. In the second set Bal Bhavan gave a tough fight but we won in the second set as well by 25-20.

The best attacker throughout the tournament was Arjun Shandilya of class XI-B. Two of our students were also got selected for Delhi state volleyball championship held at Pitmapura. Arjun Shandilya of class XI-B & Veer Choudhary of class X-C. Both the students of Salwan Public School Mayur Vihar represented Zone-2 in Delhi state volleyball championship

Salwan School Volleyball (U-14 category) girls team secured 1st position in 4th Dr. Bhai Mahavir Inter School sports championship which was held at Bhai Parmanand Vidya Mandir School Surya Niketan Delhi on 22 & 23rd of December .Team received ₹5100 cash prize also Angel Janjua of class 9th A bagged the title of best player of the tournament in Volleyball.

Volley Ball Zonal Tournament 2023

We are proud to inform you that our sub-junior Boys’ Volleyball team secured 3rd  position in the Zonal Volleyball Championship which took place at East Point School, Vasundhra Enclave Delhi.

Total 29 school teams participated in the zonal championship. It was a wonderful sight to see budding athletes showing their display of sportsmanship. Every school team was performing good. Tournament was designed on knock out basis. Salwan volleyball boys reached semifinals   and gave a tough fight to GBSS Ashok Nagar but in the end GBSS won. We played the hardline match to secure 3rd position we fought with ABV School and stood victorious we defeated them by straight two sets 25-10 & 25-12.
